How Cutline makes money

Short version: some links on this site are affiliate links. If you buy through them we may earn a commission, at no extra cost to you. Here is the longer, plain-English version.

Cutline is free to use, and we keep it that way through affiliate partnerships, most notably with VPN providers. When you click certain links here and go on to sign up or buy, the provider may pay us a small commission for the referral.

It never changes the price you pay

A commission is paid by the provider out of their own margin. It does not add anything to your bill. You pay exactly what you would pay going to the provider directly, sometimes less, when our link carries a promotion. There is no "extra cost to you" anywhere on this site, ever.

Our recommendations are our genuine opinion

We only feature services we would actually suggest to a friend. A commission never buys a better ranking, a kinder write-up, or a spot we do not think a product earns. Where we compare VPNs, the ordering reflects what we think serves a travelling fan best (reaching a broadcast you are entitled to from your home country, and staying private on hotel and public Wi-Fi) and not who pays the most.

If a provider's price, features, or reliability change for the worse, our recommendation changes too. We would rather lose a commission than send you somewhere we would not go ourselves.

How to spot the affiliate links

Wherever affiliate links appear, for example in our VPN comparison box, we put a clear note directly above them so you always know before you click. The "Get [provider]" buttons in that box are affiliate links. Plain links to broadcasters, governing bodies, or reference pages are not.

Why we do it this way

Affiliate income lets Cutline stay free, independent, and ad-light. We think the honest trade is worth it: you get a tracker and watch guide with no paywall, and we get to keep the lights on, as long as we only ever recommend things we believe in.
